Weight Watchers – Week 1 Update
Posted by Terry on November 10, 2008
So, I did it! I jumped right in and started the diet. It takes a lot of concentration and forethought, that I can tell you. If I were working right now, it might be hard to fit that all into my schedule. But since I’m not, I have time to devote to thinking about the creative ways to accumulate Flex Points.
I have to say, that for the first couple days I couldn’t eat enough to garner all the points alloted. As I got into a little grove, it’s gotten easier to spread out my meals, eat snacks periodically to add to the daily total, and understand that it’s ok to eat AND do it in a healthy manner. I had a decent amount of energy, even though I was sick all last week with laryngitis. I consider that good in itself. Of course, some of that energy could just have been from the good vibes I was giving myself for finally starting something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
It’s important for me to get the hang of this, because I want to do it for a long time in order to get to my goal weight. I’m going to break my actual total goal down into smaller increments and then try to reward myself in some way when I get to each one. The reward probably shouldn’t be food, as that would be counter productive! And money is tight, as always lately. Though perhaps when I get my first goal I can splurge on something for ME. Whoohoo. Wouldn’t that be a thrill? In order to get the hang of the “diet”, I’m not going crazy right now with cooking special meals. I don’t do hardly any frying, so that’s not a real issue. I’m taking some low-fat alternative suggestions and trying to encorporate them. The other night, I made a pre-packaged noodle alfredo side-dish and just skipped the milk and butter. The family didn’t know, and I cut the fat in half! I asked later and Mike said it tasted exactly the same, in his opinion. And if the eagle-eye, Grace, didn’t complain, it’s usually a good thing! LoL
So people: The Weight Watchers Week One Total: – 6 pounds! YAY ME!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Honest. I really appreciate it. Getting the courage to start at all was a BIG change for me. I’ve been through a lot of medical issues in the last two years or so, so having the time and energy to devote to me in a totally different aspect means that I’m moving past all that and on to my future. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Please come back.

Way to go Terry! I started WW last Monday, and I lost 4 1/2 pounds.
I had trouble using up my points too, but it’s getting easier. I think by next week I’ll have to drop down 2 points per day, so I might be rethinking that…

Charlotte: Cool we started on the same day! We can buddy up if you’d like. Of course, I have a hell of a long way to go before I can point down. lol Thanks for coming over.
Heather: It all starts with one choice. Although, I know how hard of a choice it can be, personally.
Thanks to both of you for the kind words.
